It can be very overwhelming going in to the makeup store. Where do you start? I've listed my five favourite products below that I have used year after year that I swear by. I promise these products are fail proof, and I wouldn't recommend anything that I didn't actually use.
My latest video talks about my favourite products that I am sure you will love too. Don't have time to watch? Scroll down for a recap of the products mentioned.
Because of my recent skin issues (hello acne and dry patches!) I've found that the Beauty Blender doesn't quite do the trick. For my issue, I prefer the MAC #127 Split Fibre Brush. The synthetic hair on one side is great for applying the foundation and smoothing it out, while the real hair on the other side is it's perfect match to buff everything out and blend.
For the makeup lovers who love their eyeliner perfect, black, and winged, this product should be a staple in your makeup bag. The Tarte Clay Waterproof Liner is creamy, making application incredibly easy when used with an angled or thin liner brush. The pigment of this product is dark black, meaning you will only need one coat - no need to add any extra layers. Plus, it's waterproof which means tears and humid days are no match for this guy. Worried about the difficulty of taking it off at night? Have no fear. When used with eye makeup remover, this guy slides right off.
The MAC Cosmetics Prolongwear Concealer is heavily pigmented - a little goes a long way. That's why I love this product. Not only is it well priced for what you get, the full coverage hides any blemishes or dark circles, and it stays put for up to 16 hours. If you pair this product with a nice eye cream underneath, it blends a little easier but that step is completely optional.
There are so many eyeshadow palettes out there, how do you know which one is best for you? Personally, I love warm shades on every skin tones and eye colour. Warm tones bring some colour in to dull or light skin tones, are universally flattering, and will always be in style. The Warm Neutral Palette x 15 by MAC Cosmetics is one of the best for your buck. Not only are the colours gorgeous, the satin textures apply beautifully on the eyelid. While most of this palette has a satin or frost finish, there are a few matte tones in here too. I even use this palette for my eyebrows sometimes too! You will have fun creating dozens of different looks with this palette, and priced at only $85 CAD, it's one of the most reasonably priced palettes on the market.
Highlighting is so in right now, and the Champagne Pop highlighter by Becca Cosmetics nearly blows every other highlighter out of the water. The creamy texture that provides just the right amount of glow on the skin without looking sparkly or chalky should be a staple in your makeup bag. No need to just use it solely on the cheekbones. Try it on the eyelid and cupid's bow for an added little glow!
I hope you love these products just as much as I do. Let me know in the comments below what products you swear by!
